Three Killed in Tragic Montgomery County Crash, Speed Was Likely a Factor
Plymouth Township, PA – According to reporting from CBS Philly, three people were killed in a devastating crash that occurred at the corner of Ridge Pike and Colwell Lane in Plymouth Township.
A representative of the Plymouth Police Department informed reporters that the accident happened at 11:50 PM on Thursday, September 12th. Officers believe that a Honda SUV was attempting to navigate a corner at a high rate of speed, when it crossed over the center lane and ran directly into the path of an oncoming minivan.
Tragically, three people were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A fourth person was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
While it is unclear exactly how fast the SUV was travelling, John Myrsiades, the local Police Chief, stated that there is no indication that the vehicle’s brakes were used prior to impact. Speed was likely a factor in the crash. Additionally, light rain may have contributed as well.
Some questions have been raised about the overall safety of this specific corner. An unidentified local resident called the area “a confusing intersection for people”.
The accident remains under investigation. If you have relevant information, please contact the Plymouth Police Department or the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
